Hay, straw and haylage

Types Available

Seed hay

Seed hay is described of as a one,two or three year ley, depending on the length of time it is left undisturbed.

Ryegrass, timothy, clover and alfalfa are all types of seed hay and they tend to have higher feed value than meadow hay.

Meadow Hay

Meadow hay is cut from permanent pasture and contains a greater number of grasses than seed hay, it is also more easily digested.

Barn dried seed hay

Barn Dried Seed Hay is also available. This is hay which is dried in the barn instead of on the field to increase the feed value of the hay and baled with specialist equipment that eliminates 98% of the dust.

Straw

We can provide wheat, oat or barley straw

To obtain the best quality of straw we use farmers with traditional combines, as they tend to produce better longer straw, easier and more economical for the end user to work with. All our haylage is made from premium quality grass. The fields are not grazed by livestock and are generally in grass for 2 years before being reseeded as part of crop rotation. The typical protein levels of our haylage is 10-12% with a dry matter of around 60%. The straw is baled behind the combine and is stored undercover throughout East Anglia

Delivery

Minimum delivery of 50 bales depending on distance. Large bales can be delivered on pallets by lorry and truck mounted forklift enabling us to get into premises that can’t be reached by lorry, and bringing the cost of feeding animals forage down significantly.
